GENERAL
DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS
|
|
|
|
1.
Mezzanine shall be a Stor-Deck wide span mezzanine
designed and manufactured by FS Industries, PO Box 72659
Providence, RI 02907.
2. Mezzanine shall be designed and manufactured
to conform to or exceed the requirements of the Occupational
Safety
and Health Administration (OSHA).
3. Mezzanine shall be free standing with wall
ties and/or sway braces provided to preclude lateral sway.
4. Approval drawings of framing plan and deck
plan shall be submitted to the owner or to owners representative
prior
to fabrication.
5. Installation drawings and component descriptions
shall be provided and included with shipment.
6. Columns shall be predrilled square structural
tubing which is manufactured to Fy = 47 ksi under ASTM A500,
grade B. Design to be in accordance
with AISC manual of steel construction. Footplates shall be
welded to columns
and provided with four bolt
holes for rigid fastening to floor.
7. Framing members shall be American standard
structural shapes as manufactured in ASTM specification A6-79B.
Design to be in accordance
with AISC manual of steel construction. All intermediate deck
support joists shall be
designed and manufactured to
conform to the Steel Joist Institute (SJI) standard specifications
for open web steel
joists. The deflection under
rated load shall be limited to span /240 or (1/240). All structural
members shall be
provided with predrilled welded
end plates to allow easy bolted assembly. All ends of framing
members shall be
fastened with 1/2 diameter
grade A325 bolts.
8. Deck shall be constructed as follows:
A) STEEL GRATING: Deck shall
be 18 gauge by 12 wide by 1 1/2 high galvanized
steel interlocking channels as
specified
in ASTM designation A525. The surface pattern shall provide
at least 35% open area and no more than
42%
open area. Openings shall be at least 10 1/2 long and
no more than 3/4 wide. The surface shall be anti-
skid with
self cleaning, sole-gripping dimples.
B) PLYWOOD: Deck shall be 1
1/8 thick APA grade plywood. Each plywood panel is to
be tongue & groove all
four
sides to allow joints to occur in unsupported locations. Plywood
deflection shall be limited to 1/240 of span
in
accordance with APA rated sheathing PS-1.
C) BAR GRATING: Deck shall be
rectangular welded bar grating type WB size 3 made with 1
x 1/8 bearing
bars
at 1 3/16 centers and twisted square cross bars at 4
centers. Material shall be steel A-569. Finish to be
one
shop coat black paint.
D) ROOF DECKING: Deck shall
be 18, 20 or 22 gauge type B roof deck 1 1/2 high under
3/4 APA grade
plywood
with tongue & groove on two long edges of each sheet.
Roof deck shall be made from steel
conforming to
ASTM designation A-611. Deck deflection under live load shall
not exceed 1/240 of the span.
Roof
deck finish to be white shop coat primer paint.
9. Stairs & Railings: All stairs, landings,
handrails and kickplates shall be manufactured to conform
to OSHA or
BOCA requirements
as requested. Stair treads shall be supplied in material and
size consistent with usage and
stair design selected. Stair
treads shall carry a minimum concentrated live load of 1000
pounds in center of tread.
10. Finish: All steel structural members shall have one shop
coat of spray enamel. |
